I love to drum!
Thanks to Ma Ma who bought this new drum set for me!
Daddy gave me some quick lessons on drumming just before bed-time today, and I think I did him proud.

If you’re a regular reader of my Mommy’s blog (which you should!), you’d know that we just had a great family getaway at Changi Village.
On Sunday, Daddy and Mommy brought me to Pulau Ubin.
Me no like noisy bumboat rides…
Me really really no like.
Daddy trying to cajole me to take a nice shot.
He tries hard, but the sun’s in my eyes, Mommy!
Mommy tries too…
And tries again…
They finally let me go, and decide to take some easier shots. You know. Non-challenging and non-squirming ones.
Finally we start our walk down the Sensory Trail… There are meant to be plenty of greens and herbs grown here.
Hmmmm…
Hmmmm…
Mommy…
Look! The gravel’s SO nice!
And I like it so much, Mommy lets me hold it all the way!
Till we reach the restaurant for lunch, and I decide to give it a lick to see how it tastes like. That’s when she got mad and took my new friend away from me. Sigh. But that’s a different story. On with the walk!
Do you see the yellow butterfly?
It’s eluding me too!
Apart from butterflies, there were also plenty of spiders as biiiig as my fist, grasshoppers (Daddy showed me how to catch them without killing them!), crickets and mosquitoes! We even went to the mangrove area, and saw some hermit crabs! Nice!
Mommy got more concerned with scratching those insect bites on her limbs, that she left the camera in her bag… so no more pictures of me and my insects…
Hungry, we settled down for some coconut juice, but the uncle gave us some lousy and old coconuts, so we barely drank the juice, and proceeded to lunch.
With my favourite… prawns! YUM!!!
Like I said… YUM!

One of my frequently visited toy shops is Growing Fun. I love this shop, with the quirky yet educational toys that they have for sale.
A few weeks ago, I bought this jigsaw puzzle set for Jayvon.
He took about 3 weeks to get used to this.
But once he figured out how to piece the jigsaw puzzles together, no one could stop him!
He is so focused when doing the puzzles…
Now, we’ve moved on to harder puzzles to give him a bigger challenge!
Jay can do the alligator jigsaw, with our assistance. But the rest are a bit beyond him for the time being.
Ah well, it helps he loves animals!

Jayvon is now 21 months and 11 days old.
And I am constantly amazed at his vocabulary power! He was a relatively “late” bloomer, and it was only when he turned 14 months or so that he really started to speak proper words. Guess having a mommy who talks so much is a plus. Haha!
A usual conversation between us would go something like:
Mommy: Jayvon, keep your toys.
Jayvon: Mommy keep.
Mommy: Jayvon keep.
Jayvon: Mah (my domestic helper) keep.
Mommy: No, Jayvon you keep.
Jayvon: Mommy keep!
Well, it is a conversation. If there are other people present, they will be roped in by Jayvon in any duty or task he is currently doing! Be it eating biscuits “Mommy, eat!” or assigning names to his parents “Daddy, horsey” (when he wants a ride on daddy’s back!) or asking Aunty Evan for a “purple sweet”, I am always amused and bemused at his wit.
While I love the stage where he’s at now, being able to communicate to me… one part of me is screaming…
Don’t grow up too fast, baby!

I’ve seen some of my friend’s kid’s blogs, and they usually feature their kids smiling happily into the cameras.
I’ve always admired that.
And I’ve always tried to coax Jayvon.
Just to look into the camera and SMILE.
Like I said…
It is still a struggle.
I think he is quite a charmer in person, but see? I think his charm doesn’t translate that way on paper.

The church recently purchased a lot of new toys and inflatables and tricycles for the kids. And this has proven to be a HUGE hit with them!
As for Jay?
He has his favourite toy tucked away in a quiet corner of the Kids@Play area.
An electric drum set! He enjoyed it so much, I am seriously considering getting him one for Christmas! Haha! Not too sure how much it will be though.
I think it is great when the church is doing so much to make church a fun and enjoyable place for kids to go!

Jayvon loves bananas!
It is one of his favourite treats! I am so happy he loves fruits – cos I do too!
I can still remember the days of mashed up fruits and vegetables… and basically mashed up EVERYTHING.
Now?
Jayvon holds and enjoys the banana all by himself.
How big my little boy has grown!
I also realised he’s so much taller. I tried to cradle him like a baby, and he was so uncomfortable – cos he was so lanky!
